I’m coming a bit late to this one, but one of my favorite shows, MTV’s True Life, had an episode on Our Favorite Subject.

True Life: I Don’t Like My Large Breasts featured three girls struggling with issues you’re probably familiar with, including difficulty exercising, unwanted male attention and irritation at not being able to find clothes that fit.

I haven’t seen it but the awesome blog Jezebel posted about it. Even better, the comments are chock full of people who can relate. Many offer suggestions for bra brands to buy, clothes to try, etc. Lots of fodder for this blog, actually.

It’s such a grass-is-greener situation; plenty of women rockin’ A-cups probably have a hard time mustering sympathy for the “problem” of big boobs. But most people in this situation can probably relate to the low self-esteem issues and practical frustrations facing these young ladies. Kudos to them for shining a light on this issue!

We’re coming to the end of the summer, but this is such an important topic, I can’t wait until 2010 to discuss: swimwear. It’s been the bane of my existence since high school.

In fact, in college, my roommate and I talked of starting our own line of swimsuits for girls who would like to wear bikinis but couldn’t fit into the teensy triangles offered up by Old Navy and such.

Just as we were getting motivated to start our line, thus saving millions of well-endowed women from popping out of chic-yet-unsupportive string tops (and becoming rich and famous and going on Oprah to talk about our success a la the Spanx inventor), we graduated college and our dreams were put on hold. My roommate moved to Arizona for grad school and I gave up hope of ever stepping within 30 feet of a pool for the duration of my time on this Earth.

But then. My roommate stepped into a store that would change our summers forever. In said swimsuit shop, she discovered Swim Systems suits and let me tell you, they are a dream. And she’s such a dream of a friend, she bought me a top! Underwire. Coverage. Sized like bras. Cute. And make my rack look fantastic.

I have the Underwire Halter and it’s perfection.

So no designing swimsuits for us. Thankfully, it’s already been done. Buy one. Now.

1. Rationalize a $60-$80 bra purchase as a necessity given our “condition.” This has been my MO for a while now, and is understandable considering how very important awesome bras are. But because I’m a BBB (buxom babe on a budget), I wear my bras until they  should be condemned. It’s pathetic, really. Some of my favorites are reaching their 10-year-old birthdays. All the fashion mags implore you to change bras out much more frequently, but, well, most of their editors can probably pick up a cute, stringy little thing for $12 at Target. That’s not possible for us. Or is it?

Which brings me to Option 2. TJ MAXX. Seriously! I never thought I’d see the day, but there I was today, walking brusquely past the throngs of lightly-organized, sardine-packed bra offerings to the pants section (my favorite thing to buy, for obvious reasons), when something compelled me to look down. There, sandwiched between an underwire-less Bali and an adorably flimsy Calvin Klein, was the holy grail of women’s support products: WACOAL. In my size. Regularly $62. For $12.99.

I became lightheaded. How could this be? I inspected the rare, beautiful specimen for imperfections. Were the straps broken? Cups stained? But nothing. Just a gorgeous, incredibly supportive, high-quality Wacoal bra-of-all-bras. For cheap.

I wanted to walk up to women in the store and tell them of the wonders waiting for them in the TJ Maxx bra racks, but since that would be weird, I started this blog instead.

So. StackedBlog’s first recommendation:

Wacoal bras, at any cost.

And second:

TJ Maxx (but not for dresses. Trying those on was incredibly depressing. But the bra find redeemed it).

We must band together! Support those who support us! And find solutions to the fashion problems posed by our *girls* that don’t involve shapeless old-lady clothes or leaving the dressing room in tears.
